The BOD have met for the first time this year, and we have an outline for the 2018 schedule.

    Feb 10 coral farmers market
@Bruce Spiegelman and @Apon have volunteered to take the lead for this event, and we will need additional volunteers for setup, manning the booth, and tear down. There are threads for this or pm them directly.

    March or April ?
Members only swap. Do people want more or less time between the coral farmers market and the swap? We will need to decide on this asap so we can begin preparations for the swap. What do you guys think? Sat March 10 or sat April 14th are the likely dates. We will need some volunteers for this event, especially someone to make a list of, and judge/confirm bonus and ultra corals. A thread will be made for this as soon as we decide on the date.

We plan to have an event with @fishdoctor in Pacifica at some point, we will wait to see what and when he wants to do.

We plan to have a fragging
Demonstration/informal coral swapping/dbtc distribution event at some point, likely June or July. Location to be determined. @roostertech, has been kind enough to host this event in the past, and we will be in need of a host again this year.

Sept is macna in Las Vegas. We will not be holding an event so that people can focus on going to macna if they are lucky enough to be able to make it.

October will be the big regional swap. We will try to make this large through advertising and a big high quality raffle. We will need lots of volunteers and will post a thread when the event gets closer. Someone who was willing to take the lead on this event will be a big help. It is our main income generating event for the whole year and it's important that we do a good job.

    December. Annual rich Ross
    ( @Thales )
event/holiday potluck (hopefully) Need I say more?

Let's do a second Rich Ross event. That's still the best!

Additional events that could happen if there is membership interest, and membership willingness to make them happen.

East bay tank tour/kessil factory tour (Richmond) tank tours have always been member led events. If someone is willing to organize a tour, kessil, one of our generous sponsors, has offered to have us out for a tour of their facility. Seems like 2-3 member tanks on the way could be a fun day.

DIY skimmate locker kits. If someone or someone people wanted to put together pieces to make our own skimmate lockers it seems like we could do it for a lot less than they cost. I have been toying with the idea of making one for awhile.

Dick and Linda's lunch and BAR hangout. Dick and Linda have been super generous twice now and had a big group over for delicious food and to promote community spirit and bonding. Always a fun time. Maybe he will indulge us again, maybe someone else would be willing to incorporate a mini tank tour with this event if he does hold it again.

@Apon's once annual sf tank tour to make a reappearance? Will @sfsuphysics have a tank by November? Only time will tell...

Steinhart aquarium behind the scenes tour? In the past we have been lucky enough to have been offered tours, I believe that @Bruce Spiegelman has expressed interest in this event happening, and would probably appreciate someone trying to make this happen again this year. Let him know if you would like to see this happen, and let me know if you are willing to coordinate and organize the event.

There is certainly room for more events, we left the schedule open somewhat to have flexibility to be able to accommodate additional events as interest and willingness exist (or not).

If you want to go that route you might want to d the Neptune's, AC and then add Clearwater. All three are fairly close. The last few years by the time it gets to Diablo no one really is still hanging out. Edward at Clearwater would probably jump at the chance to become a sponsor. Then we could set up something with Diablo separately when we do the Kessil tour.

He talked to me at the last coral farmers market. I believe he is a garage type business?

Maybe we try a north bay and South Bay tour? We could either start somewhere in the middle and work our way back or start north/south and work our way to the middle and have lunch together which ever way we do it.

Sorry, I missed the mini-board meeting. I am having a lot of dental work done, plus solar has been added to my home. For the member's swap, I vote for April as I will be away for much of March. the rest sounds good. Do we have a schedule of BOD meetings yet?

We did not schedule the remaining 3 meetings. One will likely be at or after the coral farmers market to plan the members swap. The two after that are not scheduled yet. One will be to plan the regional swap, and one to plan the next years BOD, possibly at or after the regional swap.

    Bump.
Any input on march or April for members swap?
Anybody interested in helping any planned or unplanned events happen?
We have had an offer from mark Callahan, "mr. Saltwater tank" to come talk to us. Anyone interested?

Let’s put a stake in the ground and have the member swap on April 14th.

If interested there's a chance of doing an event in conjunction with MARS as well. A friend talked to me about having Bob Fenner fly in and give a presentation about Nems. Not sure of all the details but I know flight and hotel would be picked up by him (using his huge amount of points.) Bob said he'd love to do it. Not sure how it would all work, but would be fascinating.

On a side note, last year someone mentioned putting up a "virtual garage sale" prior to the swap so members could list all their garages full of excess equipment and then bring sold items to the swap. Please make it happen :)

Might be fun to do an event like that along with MARs too. More reefers mingling.

Not 100% sure what you are asking. We had him come give a talk at a club meeting. Normally we have tried to get speakers who are local or are already coming this way but we have flown people in too. We have certainly put people up in hotels and provides transportation, food, and entertainment in some cases. I don't recall exactly what his details were. Been several years and we used to have a lot of speakers come in.
I think back in the day a lot of guys used to just stay with rich. That solved housing and entertainment.
