You could make a turtle tank out of the 120 and your wife would be the happiest woman this side of the Mississippi

Another +1 on BRS reactors. Solidly built and will last forever.

I have an AquaMaxx XL reactor for my chaeto reactor. It's pretty nice too, but not as rugged. I got it over the BRS in this case because I needed the walls to be super clear for the LED lights.

Do you think the cheato reactor will substitute the algae in the refugium?

watch the video was thinking were just being picky, but yikes that canopy is just... wow you lose the top 6 inches of tank with that beast, not sure it should be mounted like that at all.

Not yet.. it will be a slow build, I don’t think I will get the tank until the end of the year. Working on my budget :(

It will be great for phosphate export that a refugium would usually do. It won't really act like a fuge the same way (which traditionally is a breeding ground for pods, and some even used to use miracle mud and other forms of bacteria filtration), but it will grow chaeto efficiently.

I went the reactor route because I didn't have a fuge in my sump (red sea reefer 170), and didn't really want to rig one in there. It would be small, and in my experience light from a fuge light will cause a ton of algae / coralline in the sump compartments/skimmer body/etc, unless you're really good at shielding the light. I also was already running a BRS reactor and chiller inline, so just stuck the algae reactor inline with those guys. The pump is working hard, but it's oversized and pushing plenty of flow (varios-2 at 75%).

I was thinking on going with reactor only for the tank, but was afraid it would not be enough. But thanks for the info.

I saw sanjay talking about his tank a little while ago on a video, he didn't mention it.. so I am guessing not.

Found a good deal on a trigger ruby 36s. I think it will be enough for a 120g tank right?
