Backyard tank update


As you can see, the temperature change for this 40g is pretty extreme. Only algae survived this swing is Green Finger and Chaeto. The Red Gracilaria Hayi didn’t survive. Even aiptasia didn’t make it. So moving everything over to a 150g Rubbermaid and at same time I can combine rocks that I’m cycling.



I made a cover which let sun shine through for algae growth, and reduce water evaporation.

Does anyone know any fish that will survive this extreme temperature swing change ?

Mean while the lotus pond comes along nicely


All the water I use for those two tanks are from my RODI waste reservoir.

My gold fish does fine in the other tank with the same condition. Is there something like goldfish for saltwater?

Ack, I have to slow acclimate those. Ok any idea how I do that while having them in the tank?maybe box of fresh water and add sw weekly ?

did water change today, removed some sand in the display. sand removal is going to be a long process.

Will it go down from increased growth, or stay high due to less buffering needed?
I think it depend. In my system my alk consumption increase when ph is higher so alk goes down. When media is depleted my system alk goes up cause consumption goes down.
