High Tide Aquatics

Daayum! My froggies are at it again!

Mr. Ugly

Past President
Just did a 2 gallon water change on the minibow 7. Now the 2 froggies are out and about and just started their spawning ritual.

The female had been looking extra fat with eggs for the last couple days. Now she looks about ready, and the vent is starting to swell and protrude. Not gonna bother with video for this one.

Yikes!

Didn't have the right food setup last time, so no babies.

Right now, I have a 5 gallon bucket of live rotifer culture and another container of pods, thanks to Randy and Gresham of Reed Mariculture. Should be all set.

The eggs are floating in a breeder net basket right now. Looking to see them hatch in a few days :)

I doubt Randy even knows about this ;)

Randy takes care of international aquaculture stuff mainly now, RN is my baby basicly :D

However, I do tell the Reeds (Tim and Randy) about cool things like this. They always respond with "get pics" :D

The dorehensis pair spawned for the 3rd time this past Thursday evening. Here's a vid I took this morning of the egg raft. You can see larvae wiggling around inside the eggs :)

I put this batch of eggs in a separate container. I dropped the s.g. just a bit last night after reading about that in a clownfish breeding article. I wasn't able to save any babies from the first two batches of eggs.

I have a big bucket of Reef Nutrition live rotifer culture for feeding these guys when they hatch... which looks to be soon... maybe this evening :)

I'm guessing I'll be feeding rotifers for a week or so, and then will have to start in with pods.

Vid taken late last night, about 15 hours after the previous vid.

The egg raft has flattened and spread out from half dollar size to ~3" across. Some of the larvae have broken free. Fed a bunch of rotifers to the container before going to bed.

I see lots of free swimming babies this morning :)

Another vid from last night. Free swimming froggie larvae :D

7th day since spawning.

Double click on the media player to see the clip full screen. Vid is ~2 minutes long, and might be boring if you're not into frogs or fish larvae :)

I think they're eating the rotifers. Hard to tell because they're so small. I'm going to filter some pod nauplii for them this morning before I leave for work.

Here's a vid from last night.
