Neptune Apex Classic issue - two different display units not displaying?

So I'm trying to get an Apex Classic set up. Power bar and brain are fine/status lights are green. When I plug the display unit in, however, nothing happens (aside from the LCD getting half a shade darker). This happens whether I plug it into the aquabus on the brain or the EB8, regardless of which aquabus port I plug it into, and the display unit will not come on even after 5-10 minutes of waiting.

I thought it was a faulty controller, until I borrowed a known functional display unit and got the same issue.

Anybody know what could be happening and how to fix it? I don't really mind the display unit not working, I just need to get the wireless token so I can make it wireless and control it from there.

I had a similar issue after inheriting an old apex classic. Are you able to hook it up to Fusion via ethernet?

How'd you go about doing that? I have it Ethernet hooked up to a WiFi extender connected wirelessly to my router.

Actually, problem solved.

For some reason, I couldn't do it on my phone. Went to http://apex on my laptop and was able to connect. Initialized the memory, and that made the display unit work. Go figure.
