Surprise Air Show

Last Saturday afternoon I heard the unmistakable roar of WWII era engines, (yeah, when you're an old geezer you recognize those things) so I rushed out with my camera and took some pics.

B-25 Mitchell. 16 of these took off the USS Hornet, Doolittle's 30 seconds over Tokyo raid. I read the book when I was in high school, back in the Philippines. Yes, the book's in English.

B-17 Flying Fortress

I found out the next day that the B-17, B-24 and B-25 were flying "passengers" out of the Concord airport. They flew relatively low over the Carquinez Strait, and the telephoto lens happen to still be on from the Wayward Whales shoot. Hence, the "close up".
