    I use an Aquasurf module with my Neptune controller.....which allows you to input the times to come on/off. It's tedious to program all the times...but once done....it's fantastic. For a Tunze, it's a wet box. It would be a dry box for a Vortech. Funny that you mention it, I'm also planning...

    It takes awhile....15 minutes at least.....to get the entire volume of water to get flowing in the same direction. The advantage of a gyre flow is that it takes much less pump power to really get a strong flow.......in other words, you get more flow with less pump power than if a chaotic...

    The idea is to get the entire volume of water circulating in a laminar flow....like a toilet bowl. In my case, the pump on one side comes on.....and gets the entire tank circulating in one direction for about an hour. Then the other side comes on creating a chaotic flow for about 20...
