BAR Forum Posting Guidelines
BAR encourages the beneficial exchange of information, ideas, and opinions and we expect members to do so respectfully and thoughtfully. Try to keep your comments limited to the topic at hand. Above all, be nice. We encourage everyone to participate in and enjoy our Forum while at the same time adhering to these rules:
  • Be mindful of yourself and others. Take a second to stop and consider how others will interpret and react to your post before you post it.
  • Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. If the discussion is getting heated, take a break and come back later. The internet will still be there.
  • Don't pile on when giving feedback or commentary regarding another BAR member, sponsor/partner, or BOD member. Create a new thread regarding your experience.
  • We have a wide variety of members, posts should be kept PG-13, and family-friendly.
  • Do not post unsubstantiated gossip, libelous remarks or directly misleading information.
  • Sale or trade of locally or federally protected animals/plants/organisms using any BAR hosted event, forum, or online space is strictly prohibited.
  • Trolling, cyber-bullying, harassment, stalking or predatory behavior are not allowed.
  • Complaints about moderator actions including editing or deleting your post may not be made in public posts; instead send a private message to a moderator or Board (BOD) member.
  • Posts intended to undermine the BAR mission, the BAR community, or that are otherwise in violation of the BAR Bylaws are not allowed.
  • Do not repost moderator-deleted material.
  • If these rules are violated, the Board of Directors retain the right at its discretion to edit or delete posts or lock, edit or delete threads. For serious or repeated violations, the Board may suspend or expel members.
  • If you come across any violations of these guidelines, Please "REPORT" questionable posts.
    • Next to every post, there is a "Report" button, where you can flag posts and include a reason.
    • This sends a message to the BAR moderators to look at the post and handle as appropriate.
    • It is really just a flag to say "Hey, look at this" and not something drastic, so do not be afraid of using it.
    • Since we do not have a big team of moderators on BAR, we need everyone's help to check posts.
    • We will be happy to address your concerns.
