Do Deionizing resin beads degrade over time?

Thanks Gresham! I got the DI Resin beads from BRS. I just looked at their website and see that they say it has a 2 year shelf life unopened. So probably the 6 months storage is more realistic. This actually makes sense to me as I've noticed over the last few months that I've been going...

Do Deionizing resin beads degrade over time?

Hi All, I have a bag of DI resin that I use to replenish my DI filters that is getting over the year mark. I was just curious if anyone knows if the beads degrade over time and if so, what they degrade to (mine are the color changing)? It seems like I read somewhere that after the year mark...

Kold Sterile, Kati Ani Resins vs RODI Questions

Thanks for the reply Matt. Interesting that a mixed bed produces a slightly lower conductivity. I wonder if this has to do with the type/size of cation/anion resin beads? For now I'll stick with the DI system I have, but eventually I want to upgrade to a larger tank/s. At that point it might...

Kold Sterile, Kati Ani Resins vs RODI Questions

Thanks for the info guys. I wondered that the Kati Ani was a variant of the DI resins. I'll call John at Ready Aquatics and see what he has in a smaller version.

Kold Sterile, Kati Ani Resins vs RODI Questions

I noticed Matt's thread asking people about their tap water filtration methods and read how some of you are using methods other than RODI to filter your tap water. I've heard about the Kold Sterile method, not that familiar with using the Kati Ani Resins that Gimmito is preparing. Since we are...

    Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

Hi Jim, Wow, gotta love how your whole system is turning out! I was curious as to the type of tubing that you are using that is connected to your Reef Octopus SR-140, and where you found it.

So bummed out. Lost almost everything....

Sorry to hear about the tank and the rear-ender! If it's any consolation I biffed my tank about a month ago. The short story: because I believed my controller. It turned out to be wrong, and from that point on I did damage (should have tested, should have tested, should have tested)...

2011 BAR members swap help thread

Looks like I'll be able to make this! Not doing any swapping this time but want to help out. Looks like there's still room for the clean up crew at the end so you can put me down for that! See you all then!

    Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

Been following your massive thread, very cool! I've also been thinking of going with some of the Hanna checkers and I would be curious to know what you think about the Milwaukee electronic refractometer after you get to using it for a while. Look forward to your continued posts and progress!

BAR meeting June 11th let's talk about LEDs baby, let's talk about you and......

Great! looking forward to attending this! Mike, when I talked to him at BAYMAC he mentioned that they had sold pretty much everything they had at the time, not anticipating the high demand. I want to say that he mentioned sometime in mid-June they would have more available to distribute to the...

    A re-introduction

Hello Everyone, I've been away from the reefing scene for about a year and a half while moving around, doing long distant commuting, and generally trying to get situated. I've peered in on the forums from time to time but have been unfortunately one of those 'inactive' members. Finally now...

Looks like I'll be able to come! I see that there is a 2:00pm raffle crew slot that still needs someone and I will take that time if it isn't already taken.

The Tim Taylor Approach To Cooling Your Aquarium

In some places in Arizona they have sprinkler-like devices that line the pool to lower the temps. I can get quite warm there, and doesn't cool down much at night.
