Posted this in my tank journal, but thinking this is where it should belong

the battle of cheap chinese black box LED

180w remote control vs 160w manual control

180w

There are a lot of simlear generic brands on ebay/amazon, but the major differences are their watt label and 180 tends to come with a remote while the 160 are mostly manual dim dial.

180w on the left turned on at full, while 160w on the right is only turned 100blue and 30white

Both lights at 100%, but I had to turn exposure down so the photo won’t look overexposed, 160w at rightside outperform 180w at left.

Bottom line, stay away from 180W led boxes as most of them are remote controlled and it will not let you manually control blue/white channel separately. And they have less par than the 160w.
