Come to the coast today

Enjoy the AWESOME weather, and a super duper low tide (-1.54 @ ~5:30 pm), the marine reserve will be in full bloom.

When the sun goes down you can come see my band try and play songs we don't know at a very low volume at Sam's Chowder House (just drink though don't eat, the food sucks and is way overpriced ;))

Yup, the lower the tide, the more stuff that gets "stranded" due to the rock formations, you can walk on the rocks, and see all sorts of things, anemone, starfish, crabs, nudibranchs, urchins, sometimes even fish. Hell you'll probably be walking on a ton of green anemones without even realizing it.

This is the place I used to go

I think it's Fitzgerald marine reserve... or at least close by. There's a really tiny parking lot in the upper middle part of the picture, hike up the road towards the tower, then climb down some cliffs and bingo you're there :D

Although I'm sure Jeremy knows the best places to go more so than I
That's the spot.

If you go further south there are some great reefs with more open ocean exposure, but be careful as the tide comes up, the surf has a little power today I just got out of the water.

Anyone ever personally caught anything decent sized poke poling?
Dave "eel man" as we call him, absolutely slays the monkey faces they run pretty big out here. It should be good this evening there's enough swell to push the bait back into the crevices.

Mike people poke pole all the time here.

I'm so sad we can't make it. :( Kids have a piano recital tonight. We used to do alot of tidepool exploring in Hawaii. I would have definitely loved to go out there. Please post the next time weather and tide align again, and thanks for letting us know about this place. Being fairly new to the Bay area, we don't know about little gems like this.

I was poke poling point bonita when I was 16 or 17 and caught a 25lb lingcod.. A couple years back I was up at slide ranch and got two cabezone in the 7-8lb range... It's amazing the size of some of the fish that look like they are in 4" of water.. I've hooked some fish that were too big to go through the access hole in the rocks.. Must be a crazy maze of caves under the rocks...
