Mandarin

I bought a Spotted Mandarin from AC today. I know the tank has an established pod population because I see them on the glass and at night.

I also got some tigger pods to seed my tanks.

Question is: when the Mandarin pecks at the sand is that because it saw a pod or is it just taking shots?

I always assumed it’s because the fish found some pods, it’s honestly the only thing I’ve ever seen to prove that mine was eating and so far it’s not dead so I assume that’s what it’s doing

90 gallons, but I first noticed this behavior when I had it in a QT tank

Mine went in a few hours ago and has been pecking at the sand in a corner of the tank the whole time.

I only saw one and it didn’t look great. It was discolored.

Oof. Mine is in the small tank with no fancy Zoas, so it’ll be ok. No shrimp would be safe in the big tank.
