Plumbing into an existing tank

I plan on plumbing a new tank into my existing tank.

Can I use flex PVC for both drains and the return? Any caveats?

I have a second return pump already feeding my UV - can I just send it’s output to the new tank?

How do I know whether my sump will handle the overflow of the additional 22g when the return pumps are off?

Anything else I should think about?

You can use the UV pump as long the flow rate matches the turnover you want in the 22gallon tank. If it doesn't, you'll need to build a manifold with a tee.

Run the 22gallon tank to a temporary bucket or tank and measure the amount of water that drains when the pump is turned off. Do a rough calculation of empty space left in sump and see if it matches up.

Could this work?
Plumb in the second one. Measure water height when both pumps running, turn pump 1 off and measure delta. Then turn pump 1 back on, turn pump 2 off and measure delta.

If d1+d2 > sump height, get a bigger sump?
