Question: Octopus Automatic Skimmer Neck Cleaner

Anyone ever buy the SRO skimmer auto head cleaner? Had to find reviews and wondering it it's worth the extra $200

Cool piece of equipment. Isn't the Avast collection cup cleaner a lot cheaper ?

$145 + shipping

I've heard good reviews of the Swabbie but none about the Octopus model. Given the build of Octopus skimmers, I bet its not a bad unit at all.

Hmmmm....
The surface area of the head cleaner part is really large.
And that part does not get cleaned obviously.
So the outside gets cleaned, but in exchange, you add a lot of dirty
surface area that is good at bubble-popping.

It might work great, and maybe that surface are in the middle does not matter as much.
But I would wait for some real reviews first.

I don't have the cleaner, but I do have to clean the collection cup on mine every two days. It gets pretty disgusting in that short time. My skimmer is really accessible though, so I don't use a reservoir either. When the skimmer was under the tank I found I didn't empty it nearly as much as I should have, so having an auto cleaner with a reservoir could be a really nice feature for you. I would think you could go a week between cleanings.......maybe more?

The Swabbie has much less gear to collect, and that is a highly reviewed product with great reviews
