Our mission

Update: Red Sea 260E

We’ll,
Time for an update. There has been a lot going since I last posted and update.
i switched from using kalk mixed into my auto top off water to using a bubble magus pump. Now I have one pump doing alk, one doing calcium, and one doing trace elements (using BRS poructs).
Unfortunately most of my sticks did not do well and I had an outbreak of hair algae. Part of the problem was over feeding. We had a scooter blenny and my wife wanted to make sure it was eating well. He passed away recently, probably 3 years old.
I also had issues with dialing in the pumps. My alk and calcium where all over the place. Been doing steady water changes and weekly tests with Calikid corals to dial in the pumps. He recommended adding in Clear Fx to help lower phosphates since these were sky high. My Ca and Alk were also sky high. Been working on this for about 4 weeks.

I left on vacation for two weeks not knowing what I would find. Came back home this week and the tank looks great. Some of the sticks appear to be coming back. Some are a total loss. The softies all look great. And most importantly the hair algae is gone! Water test this week showed al7, a bit low. Ca-400, Phos-0.12. Nítrates 25.

I think I will hold off on any more sps for now until I see what recovers. But overall I am happy with the results.

now I need to figure out to how frag some of the zoa’s I have. They are spreading over the rocks. Would love to pass some on. Have some blue, gold, and orange ones.
