Velvet questions

So velvet wrecked havoc on my tank, killed off most of my fish.
I have a few fish left (a couple of firefish, a chromis and a wrasse)

Do I have to remove all the fish from the tank and keep it fallow for 3 months to clear the system?
Or can I leave these fish in and wait the 3 months?

If you're going fallow, you'll need to take them out. Need to remove the food source for the parasite. Minimum fallow period for Velvet recommended is 6 weeks. Recommended fallow duration for ich is 76 days.

Agree that you'll need to take the fish out of the display and go fallow. You also need to treat the surviving fish with copper or chloroquine phosphate in a separate hospital tank. They could be asymptomatic, but still carriers of velvet.

humblefish on R2R also says that Tank Transfer Method with a bath in diluted hydrogen peroxide on some of the transfers is also capable of curing velvet. I'd put it in the "experimental" category right now though. Let me know if you want some more information. He's apparently had success.
