Yes, probably very much like the Candiru.
Lots of local anecdotal evidence, a fun story, but a distinctive lack of science.

Of course, the Pacu being there is real, and it could become a nuisance for the normal
invasive species type reasons.
 
I remember watching the show called River Monsters where the narrator discussed this type of Pacu that likes to bite on nuts (real fruit nuts). Unfortunately the Pacu probably mistaken the human part as a similar thing.
There's another episode where he talked about Candiru as well. In any event, its not fun to see any of those 2 fish.
