What is this?

I know what this is but who makes them and what's the name so I can find some more. I bought a used sump from a recent tank break down. The sump has quite a few of these in an overflow area that looks like it was made for them. Could I re-use these ones? Might it help jump start my cycle? Should I throw these out and buy new ones?

Not knowing what conditions this used tank was, I would start clean unless it was a successful tank that gets break down

I think they’re marketed as pond filter media. I tried a quick google and couldn’t find those exact ones but I think AC sells them

Never used them before. Definitely not siporax. They are ceramic pond media. Don't know the quality of these brands.
