I think your tank is way too young to be agonizing over N and P ratios. Your nutrients are going to be all over the place and there’s going to be all kinds of phases of weird gunk and algae and Dino’s and everything else. Get a couple fish and a couple cheap corals and let the tank work itself...
Not sure about a Home Depot guy (maybe…probably most could do it) I just meant it would take someone that knows what they are doing less than a day to knock this out.
This is an easy job for someone that knows what they are doing - I would consider taking the L at this point and paying someone skilled to get it done right. Less than day labor to pay for I bet.
Rehome it if you are going to continue to clean the sand bed, these are not fit for most tanks without super mature substrate full of goodies. Mine is going on 2 years.
Been using an alkatronic for 3 years with no major issues. Don’t calibrate nearly as often as @newfly but I only test every 12hrs.
Have to replace the hoses every so often. @dandemeyere also uses one.
Aquawiz is another one worth considering.
You got the flow cranked up all the way? Interested in hearing more about your flow. Looks like the sand isn't really blowing around, which is a huge problem in my tank.
Mine is still alive @t0mmy108 ! Hopefully I can share it back with you when your tank is ready and mine grows out some more. It's been slow for me but looks happy.
The reagent hose is 1.6mm ID and the other hoses are 3.2mm ID - for your notes. Roughly the same as 1/16" and 1/8" respectively.
Where did you buy the inner pump replacements? I should probably get a few of those too.
I have about 2200 tests on mine but haven’t yet replaced the internal pump hoses, although I’ve replaced all the others - my pump C hose actually cracked recently. It’s 1.6MM ID btw, just get it on Amazon
Why are you changing the tubing, and how long has your alkatronic been runing? It looks like your C-pump tubing has a bunch of black gunk in it which is kinda weird.
