I've had the same issue with refractometers and digital testers, I switched to the tropic marin high precision hydrometer, I bought two and they're consistent, I clean them with RODI before storage, I test in a 500ml graduated cylinder and my tank is at 77-78° F, so I don't need to compensate...

might be a doggy daycare around that's closed on weekends and they can rent out the space for cheap, we did that in Toronto once

try a longer manual flush before you start producing, the auto flushes aren't typically long enough

Does that water level with the reefmat have any negative impacts? it looks low as they suggest keeping it level with the inlet. I'm working on a custom sump like you recommended and trying to decide on baffle height. Also it looks like you have the skimmer with the reefmat, any issues with that...

just to confirm, you have the aquaticlife on a timer and the standard float valve/shut off valve combo.. is there anything else I would need? This seems like the most simple solution.. Dan from Avast Marine is recommending this in lieu of the barrel tender he use to sell...

I may end up selling my aquatec booster and switching to that aquatic life version, ive figured out how to automate it but short cycling without flushing would still be a problem. It's too bad avast marine no longer sells the barrel tender, im a big fan of their ato products.

I tried that and the waste water kept flowing, there is a way to hook up a shut off but I guess I need to read the booster pump instructions, I could also do it manually without much of an issue but automation is fun. Edit, this is the missing part I was looking for...
