Floating torch tentacles still sting?

Once in a while, I see a floating torch tentacle. Will this tentacle still sting? Today I saw the tentacle on a chalice. I wasn't sure if the chalice was feeding on the tentacle or the tentacle was stinging the chalice. The tentacle seems to be stuck on the chalice pretty good and left a mark.

Yes it will sting stuff. Remove them if possible.

you need to find out why the tentacles are floating away from the head first since they dont do that. check your parameters.

I also occasionally (pretty rarely) get torch tentacles coming off. Usually when I crank the flow up

The sting isn’t controlled by a “decision” by the coral like our arms are controlled by our brain, it’s a bunch of nematocysts in specialized cells that just go off on contact

Same goes for anemones. If they get into a power head you can have a big problem for sensitive corals.
