I drain the tank,
Only give them a few inches to run around in,
Stressful on me, but seems less stressful on the fish.
And the tank still gets hit by havoc! Haha

About two years in that spot, it was a good size chunk when I put it there,

No clue really, could’ve been a lot of different things,
It was touching several different Coral, could have been a flow issue, could have been minor alkalinity swings, could have been minor temperature swings,
Probably a combination of everything,
Coral warfare is a strange thing. Sometimes corals will practically grow into/onto each other, other times there's a clear winner and the loser just kind gives up the spot, then other times the smallest sting sets of a deadly necrosis event that will take the entire colony if you don't frag it fast enough.
