Free: Massive 17" Diameter Turquoise Stag Colony (San Rafael)

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to transition my tank from SPS-dominated to more of an LPS and softy system. With young kids and a demanding job, it’s either simplify things or step away from the hobby and I’m definitely not ready to do that. As much as I love SPS, keeping them looking the way I like requires a level of stability, testing, lighting, and flow that just isn’t realistic for me right now.

So I’m starting the downsizing process with my largest colony: an ORA Turquoise Stag that’s approximately 16–17 inches in diameter. It’s a massive, healthy colony attached to a flat piece of live rock.

My first preference would be to find someone with a large enough system who can take the whole colony and keep it growing. I’d love to see it continue to thrive in a reef rather than be chopped up. If I can’t find a tank big enough to house it, my next hope would be someone willing to take it, frag it responsibly, and pay it forward by sharing frags with the community.

It would need to be picked up in San Rafael. You’d likely need a large tub for transport (probably a brute as a 5 gallon bucket is definitely too small), but it should move safely if handled carefully as it has very thick branches. I’m happy to include a few extra frags as well for anyone who can give this colony a good long-term home.

If you (or someone you know) have the space and would like to keep this beauty growing, please let me know.
