Newjack's Dog house build (tank journal)

Man Kris, you know what you’re doing. Only a year old and sticks growing better than any tank I’ve had. I like all the improvements you’ve made to the tank/stand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Gablami's Reefer 525 Build

Thanks for the compliments! Wow, it had been awhile since updating this thread. Tank is still running. No crash. The frag tank has been decommissioned and I’m actually in the process of upgrading the tank, so my corals have taken a bit of a hit with the accompanying neglect. Yes I used titan...

    Rygh's 250 gallon - Rev 3

Jeez, I always thought it was just softies. If they are known to eat SPS, will steer clear. Guess I’ll try a CBB...again... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Glass Scraper

I also have that scraper. Works well on my back glass when I can’t use a magnet. I use the flipper, normal strength. The flipper max caused a scratch on my 3/4” glass (I think). I also only use the blade side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Interested...Tunze or Neptune ATO?

Another vote for tunze. I’ve got 2, and a dry one backup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rygh's 250 gallon - Rev 3

What corals did it start eating? Zoas? I figure I can tolerate not having zoas. If it started eating LPS I would have more complaints. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New tank

Adding dry rock, even previously cured rock that has subsequently dried out will always have a “cycle”. It may be so small that one does not register it, but organics such as the dead bacteria are always present to some degree. I’ve added small amounts of dry rock to an established tank...

    Febuary Tank Spot Light RandyC

Beautiful tank Randy. Your care and attention is evident throughout. Next time let’s see all the other tanks too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Chromis’s 90g Acropora tank

Well, mine is slowly growing. If and when it gets to a point where it looks more happy, I would be glad to frag you a replacement. Just don’t know how long it will be... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Chromis’s 90g Acropora tank

Sorry to hear about your HWs. Did you have a 3rd? All your sticks look great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    calcium reactor media

That’s very cheap. 1/2 price of BRS. 44lb will take most people years to go through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tank Spotlight January 2019

Yes, no issues with the Bellus. At one point I had a Japanese swallowtail, watanabei and Bellus, and eventually decided the Bellus was my favorite. I hope it never turns male because I like the female coloration better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Quarantine

76 days is the time frame the Humblefish on R2R advises to run a tank fallow if you want to clear ich. This is not the period where you can observe a fish in QT for ich. There is no advised amount of time of QT where you can be assured with high confidence that your fish aren’t carrying ich...

    Return Pump Noise

If you’re trying to make it as efficient as possible, I find barb fittings narrow the lumen significantly and increase head pressure right as the flow is exiting the pump. If you can reduce noise without barb fittings that would be ideal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    H2Overflow - Opinions?

If you want something in a custom size, I found modular marine to be very easy to work with. Got me a custom slim external portion to fit behind my frag tank. It does not have removable weirs and you would need to custom drill it with a provided template. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tank Spotlight January 2019

Lol, probably the same as most people, but until a month ago it was 2 under 2. Starting to let up a bit. Baby is sleeping through the night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tank Spotlight January 2019

This tank is definitely a work in progress. Eventually I hope this will be an SPS dominant tank, but it's still a relatively new tank and just starting to grow into where I want it to be. About 8 months ago, I burned a bunch of my acros by turning up LEDs too fast, and many of them slowly died...
