In my big display tank I’ve had an aptasia outbreak. With a snowflake eel in the tank pepermint shrimp were a no go. Tried some of the aptasia eating nudis but I think they all got eaten. Finally opted for a filefish and boy has he gone to town. Robert named him Rocky as in Rocky Balboa ;)
About a year ago I picked up this branching GSP. Turns out it is a pretty slow grower. Really cool effect in the tank. Give me another six months and it should be big enough to get some frags out.
Nice congrats!!! Resist the urge to make the Home Depot run and start swapping out light switches and electrical outlets. Nothing good will come from it!
How long have you been seeing the aggression? I recently added a Hippo tang to my big tank where I keep a bunch of tangs. A few days of chasing and then everything settled out. Now everyone is happy, or as happy as fish can be.
I was luckily able to make it with 20 minutes before closing time. I brought my 11 year old daughter and her friend. I told them to find their favorite coral (in the past this has been expensive). This time she found this large green coral. Not even sure what species, but for $20 I’m willing to...
Let me measure this weekend. The tanks are about five feet tall and about 2' in diameter. I have looked at installing a 3' Apex water level monitor into the RO tank, however I've heard the build quality of those levels are not that great.
We pre-cooked all the rock work, but the sand and all the plumbing was new. Usually takes about six to twelve months for any residual trace chemicals to leach out. I went through something similar with the first 180. The first year took a bunch of tuning until the system stabilized. One surprise...
Oh Robert is still very much involved. Increasing the water volume so much definitely destabilized the system. We had to do a bunch of water changes which dropped the nutrients too much and I lost almost all the LPS in both tanks. Things are stabilized again … just in time for the next CFM ;)...
Oh that would be some work ;) Here is the build thread. If you are in the Los Gatos area and want to see the system drop me a DM.

It was just to have options. In practice one tank makes RO, we then transfer RO to the next tank, mix the salt’and then use the pump to move the salt water into the display tank during a wc.
