Here is a picture of the box I got from him. 2 toggle switches and 4 buttons for temporary use. I have 1 toggle set for Maintenance mode & 3 buttons set for different feeding modes. Then the plan is to use the 2nd toggle as a "Blue light mode" and last button as a temp "blue light mode".
It...
Same thoughts as lazyreefer, went 10+ years without having one, now I couldn't imagine setting up a tank without one. Just the peace of mind when traveling makes it well worth the cost.
I also copied your plan for the automatic hood raiser. Here are some shots of it up and down. Used an electric hoist mounted in the attic with some metal wire to hang the hood.
I got one of those set up too. I can't figure out how to post .MOV files so only have screenshots to show. I just mounted mine over my sump and drilled a hole in the bottom to dose directly into the return section of my sump. This one is technically an electric cooler too, so it only gets...
Been using one about 3-4 months so far. Ton's of pro's for me personally. Like Mike said, only con is price, especially if you don't have an Apex controlled system.
Thanks, I don't use any flow meters on my FMM's, just optical eyes, so hopefully I won't run into the same issues. You can also run the solenoid off the EB832. I plan to do this with most of the ones I'm going to set up.
Can you elaborate a bit, I've never heard of a module locking up. I currently have one Neptune solenoid set up but have plans to add a few more, why are they not safe?
I would just use Neptune's solenoid and then write code that if ph raises above or goes below the levels you set for the solenoid, then your skimmer shuts off and it sends you an alert. Then you would know when the solenoid got stuck and needs to be cleaned or replaced.
I.E. Solenoid opens at...
Why not just use the one that apex makes and then put the 1/2" line around the solenoid. Here's a picture I found on R2R of someone who set one up and said it works fine. I am planning on doing the same but haven't quite gotten to that part of the build yet
Same advice I give everyone starting out. Get a tank twice as big as you are thinking of. You will run out of space quickly and it is much easier to start with a bigger tank than swap out to a bigger one later. Also, it's easier to maintain the correct levels on a bigger system.
