I am taking a few steps further with global warming.
Recently, tank was at 84F with 3 hrs light, and high nitrate and phosphate. Hammers and lobo have issues but sps still alive. When hammer dies off new heads develop.

My theory is that gem tang selling at $700 is not really gem tang.
This one seems like a real gem tang because they look like dots then lines.
The gem with lines was considered rare in 2017 but no so anymore.

You should review some pics previously taken.
Could have left outside in high heat.
If you cannot prove it, give money back and call it a loss, or work it out for partial refund
I don't think they are doom and gloom kinda fish.
Challenging yes, but not at 1:100 survival rate.
I think if you can do divided wrasse, you can keep these. But I would not do both of them in the same tank if the divided becomes a male.
