    favorite ICP company

Interesting. So is @derek_SR understating their turnaround time :)? With a lab in the US, four days seems to be more on the upper end of what one would expect to get the results back unless there is an issue with USPS.

ATO siphon issue - how to fix?

Do not know how the siphon can clog if only the purest water flows through it. But I trust that this happened to folks and I will consider this in the next upgrade. On a related note - the Hydros ATO comes actually with its own siphon breaker. But I have already installed the Red Sea one now...

Send mine out this morning - let’s see how much longer FM takes this time. While they can do it in 7 days, all stars need to align for this.

ATO siphon issue - how to fix?

But does it not need above the water line of the reservoir?

ATO siphon issue - how to fix?

I almost think this is exactly what the breaker does, so poking a small hole in the tube above the water line is probably the most economical way to achieve what I wanted to do. Since I still had the breaker from my Red Sea ATO, I used that but love the hack, thank you.

ATO siphon issue - how to fix?

I do not think this would have been practical for my setup unless I misunderstood. Keeping the end of the drain so high up above the water line would cause quite a lot of splashing noise.

ATO siphon issue - how to fix?

Thanks so much - works like a charm. The breaker itself should be sufficient, since I have used this setup already since this tank was setup less than two years ago.

ATO siphon issue - how to fix?

I have recently changed the ATO from RedSea to Hydros, since I was not happy with the RedSea at all, as it seemed unrealiable. However, the BIG benefit of the RedSea was that it had a siphon prevention mechanism - which allowed the setup I have with a tall container to work (we talked about...

    Losing my goni’s, need help

Slightly related - I would not start blind dosing anecdotal Goni enhancing traces. Get a good ICP asap and post the results here. There are so many reasons why Gonis don’t work in somebody’s tank. I would also be cautious with all in one products as they might improve Goni health but lead to...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

I saw this video today when it was pushed out by Marine and Reef. Looks like this pump is 8 years old (!). Surprised nobody mentioned this or knew. The interesting comment in this video was that it can connect to a Hydros controller while I thought this was not possible. I asked the Hydros...

    Dangalang Laundry Room Frag Tank

I would have sold you the skimmer back, I replaced this with a Nyos 120 (but considering now going back to the icecap). No great skimmer available for the nano tanks except maybe the smallest DELTEC, but given the price tag, I put this on my Santa Claus list. Why no gyres in this tank? What...

    Triton method discussion

Yes, potassium is worth focusing on. But as mentioned, do not overdose. So be sure your test results are accurate. I would send out an ICP to confirm your low values. A good salt should not bring down your values to the levels you have tested...

    Triton method discussion

Whoever thinks that trace element dosing and ICP testing do not have significant benefits is either a (over) confident coral whisperer, or is willing to leave a lot of potential progress (and coral health) on the table. I sometimes feel this is being disregarded/diminished as it does require...

Featured Lets see the eye candy from the 6/22 swap

Yes, despite not having any ultra or bonus corals, we were able to get an ULTRA coral (hooray), i.e., a Hellfire Torch from @MichaelB, but we equally love the red goni in the back from @ReyDeFarts. I am glad I decided at short notice to still come to the swap, a huge FOMO risk if I had not.

These were very nicely made housings!

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

I got these two green beautiful plating montis from Andy / @ReyDeFarts and Derek / @derek_SR - currently parked in the nano tank but I am planning to move them soon to the IM 150. Thank you so much for them! Since I want to mount them vertically plating away from the rock I came up with this...

Cotton candy torch - one head less happy than the other

I promise we can rule this out :). Maybe it is as simple as this. It just seems to close up quicker and more frequently while the other stays extended for most of the day.

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Same here - maybe I should thank RedSea that their ATO sucked so much that I was ultimately forced to do it. Next will be my frag tank where I replace the supper annoying (although reliable) Tunze ATO (old version).

Cotton candy torch - one head less happy than the other

Maybe not a great video to demonstrate this but this two head cotton candy coral has one head seemingly less happy then the other (left, less extended than right). What could be the reason?
