Do not know how the siphon can clog if only the purest water flows through it. But I trust that this happened to folks and I will consider this in the next upgrade. On a related note - the Hydros ATO comes actually with its own siphon breaker. But I have already installed the Red Sea one now...

I almost think this is exactly what the breaker does, so poking a small hole in the tube above the water line is probably the most economical way to achieve what I wanted to do. Since I still had the breaker from my Red Sea ATO, I used that but love the hack, thank you.

I do not think this would have been practical for my setup unless I misunderstood. Keeping the end of the drain so high up above the water line would cause quite a lot of splashing noise.

Yes, potassium is worth focusing on. But as mentioned, do not overdose. So be sure your test results are accurate. I would send out an ICP to confirm your low values. A good salt should not bring down your values to the levels you have tested...

Yes, despite not having any ultra or bonus corals, we were able to get an ULTRA coral (hooray), i.e., a Hellfire Torch from @MichaelB, but we equally love the red goni in the back from @ReyDeFarts. I am glad I decided at short notice to still come to the swap, a huge FOMO risk if I had not.

I promise we can rule this out :). Maybe it is as simple as this. It just seems to close up quicker and more frequently while the other stays extended for most of the day.

Same here - maybe I should thank RedSea that their ATO sucked so much that I was ultimately forced to do it. Next will be my frag tank where I replace the supper annoying (although reliable) Tunze ATO (old version).

Maybe not a great video to demonstrate this but this two head cotton candy coral has one head seemingly less happy then the other (left, less extended than right). What could be the reason?
