The rock that's in the above pic is NOT suitable for marine aquaria. You want a calcium carbonate based rock (live rock) not the volcanic "bowl" or "lace" rock that's pictured in the tank. and who's the feathered friend that lives next store?

Does not look like tunicates from here....maybe eggs? Remove from tank and brush off with coarse toothbrush Repeat as needed

IMHO I would not have any rock higher than 2/3 of the water up the water column. Corals grow, fish need room to swim
