When you're spending thousands of dollars on a system it has to look good. We want it to match the stand as well as have the opportunity to add more/different lights as time progresses. I looked through kmoorsf's thread and will use a similar pulley system.

Most importantly we like the aesthetics of a floating canopy. Check out the tank of the month spotlight. The 300g by kmoorsf. Secondly. It's so much easier to work in a display with lots of overhead room to get over the tank. With a suspended canopy we can just raise it a foot or two and voilà.

Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has any suggestions where i can go online and look up hardware to suspend the canopy over my tank? both hardware to bolt to ceiling beams and hardware to bolt to the hood. thanks!

we also wanted to make sure getting to the bottom wouldn't be a pain in the ass.

just make sure your stand can hold the increased weight :) very exciting! my 48lx26wx22h is coming from neptune at the end of this month. it'll be on a 40 inch stand.

nevermind, got it. had to go to the APEX display to get the info.

also when i hit "edit" for any of the dashboards, there are no unused tiles. I should also note that there is currently nothing plugged into the unit. It's just the head module and an empty power bar.

I've heard of both and seen examples of both. With the high flow requires of an sps aquarium a zero edge tank wouldn't have even overflow and viewing the tank would be distorted. Center pillar overflow is also obstructive. Lots of good ideas but we're trying to keep to simple methods.

Coast to coast would obstruct a few inches off the top from one of the longer panes and external is just ugly as we have no where to hide it since the tank will be viewable from all 4 sides

The tank is going to be peninsula style viewable from all four sides so we wanted to maximize continuous viewable area.

The pricing is actually pretty similar for our full custom order. The only added cost is any shipping and crating fee, and we may be able to save some $$ there since Neptune is placing an order from their custom tank manufacturer anyway, so our tank can take the same truck as the store order...
