If it’s that big I’d remove and replace it with a small frag attached to a smaller rock you can remove in the future. I know you don’t want to remove the big rock. But do you want a huge toadstool hogging room in your tank?

But, water change is how you siphoned them out? I’m confused. Don’t leave a ton of pellets rotting on the sand overnight!

RODI and clean again or carpet cleaner machine after salt is cleaned up if you really care. Air movement for a couple days after helps

If you plug the bottom in a way where you use nice valves instead of plug/cap you could always turn it into a closed loop easily later
