    ABC Reagents

https://abcreagents.com/ I don’t think Kenny carries it anymore, though last time I asked he said he might again at some point. @under_water_ninja

    ABC Reagents

Did they say they were scaling down? Might just be tired of packing orders and talking to customers (lol).

    ABC Reagents

No it’s definitely for the Trident. CoralVue has been selling ABC reagents for a while, generally with just a small markup (like $10) but can often get free shipping. Just that CoralVue only currently sells their combo sets A+B+C, whereas the ABC Reagents guy also sells sets of just A or just...

    ABC Reagents

CoralVue also doesn’t sell the single reagent types, like just A for example. Hopefully that will change? It’s one of the reasons to use ABC reagents over Neptune’s.

    Brine shrimp

Aiptasia LOVE live baby brine shrimp. If you have Aiptasia you don’t want, I don’t recommend feeding it. I tried a bunch of ways of hatching them, the best by far was: Ziss hatchery https://www.aquariumcoop.com/products/ziss-brine-shrimp-hatchery Aquarium Co-op eggs (these eggs specifically)...

    Embarrassing Reefer Problems

The fun thing about Trader Joe’s is how the register people make small talk about what you’re buying. Also can be the not so fun thing.

THIS SATURDAY!!!! June 7th fragging workshop. PLEASE RSVP

I think the timing for this one in early June is tough for a lot of people. Almost everyone is already doing something or covering for people from work who are.

    Tang Compatibility

Who knows what happiness looks like or means to a fish. It’s hard enough to define in people, and they are evolved and wired just like us and can talk. Lots of people with what look like great environments are miserable and the opposite is true too. It seems more inherent than environment based...

    Lanthanum dosing, check my math…

So besides the deferring to what other with expertise have used, which is fine, does anyone know about this? I noticed when googling this that the use of SeaKIear looks mostly just like historical coincidence because it’s a brand that was available for pools many years ago when people were...

    Lanthanum dosing, check my math…

SeaKlear is roughly 30x more concentrated than TM E-P Rapid by my calculations. Not 2.5x. For reference: SK: 1 oz in 5000g reduces 0.5 ppm TM: 1 ml in 100 liters reduces 0.1 ppm

Your no. 1 (overlooked) thing to plan for when going on extended vacation

I take seriously all the planning, automation, web cams, outage backup, etc. But the most important single item is having someone around to check on your tank looking for things/sounds out of place and willing to call or FaceTime to solve problems. We use a housesitter, mostly for the other...

    Tang Compatibility

Lots of rules of thumb. Lots of individual exceptions to those rules. Lots of horror stories and love stories in both directions. Now you know why the definitive answer you seek to this question is hard to find.

    Lanthanum dosing, check my math…

Is there a SeaKlear version for reef aquaria or are you guys using the stuff made for pools? Any concerns with that? I have a bunch of lanthanum for pools already (other brands) but wouldn’t be comfortable putting it in my tank since they don’t disclose everything in the bottle.

    favorite ICP company

Triton, because they are the most established and most trustworthy in my opinion and experience. 100% of the value of ICP results is based on how much you trust them since there’s no practical way to verify them. And if you don’t really trust them, they aren’t actionable. I’ve used Triton for...

Coral IDs for the upcoming swap

The scientific genus/species names change/split/merge too. Sometimes more often than the common/trade name. And one species will have several different morphs that each “deserve” their own trade name. And each specific trade-named coral will change appearance dramatically in the ocean vs tank 1...
