HD video of my Tank...Inspired by others here.

Thanks Eileen! It was fun to do. A bit tough to keep it interesting since the tank is so small, but fun all the same. Eventually I'll buy a house and have a larger tank with a bit more diversity. In the mean time I'll keep practicing on my little tank.

HD video of my Tank...Inspired by others here.

Thanks All! Still learning the in's and out's of photography in motion. My music admittedly wasn't the best on this, but since having posted this I created music that is more 'underwater appropriate' which I will put to my next tank video at a later date.

HD video of my Tank...Inspired by others here.

Ok, I got inspired by Badbread and Adam12 to do a video of my Tank. My disclaimers: It's my first attempt, and I did it in iMovie so I don' have any complex transitions. For kicks I created the music to it (the music was done in Logic Pro). It's a very simple orchestration that I...

My first attempt at HD video

Too Cool! I like it! Jay, I was watching for the image quality issue you were mentioning. Maybe it's me, but it seemed like the camera in a few places wasn't quite keeping in focus. Which I can understand given that there is a piece acrylic between the objects and the camera. Also, if you...

    Erick's 28g Nano

Hi Erick, I also have a 28 JBJ 150HQI. I noticed that you say you have the actinics. Are these 2 dual 18W's? Just curious as I had to Mod mine with actinics from Nanotuners. Are you running a chiller on yours? I've had mine for about two years and found that I really needed to have a...

    Mike1962's 28 gal 150HQI

Found some pics of what the tank looked like new. Here they are: Side View After about 1 year it looked like this: Now that I look at it and see all the Bryopsis I cringe. Here are some individual coral shots from around that time frame: That's it for...

Crap! Is my ballast is on its way out or is it the heat?

Jay, I have the same tank and ballast (it is magnetic). I've had mine now for about 2 years. It definitely runs hot, and lately I've been wondering if it's on its way out. No problems yet, but light output doesn't seem as bright? I hope things go well for you. Let us know how it goes.

    Mike1962's 28 gal 150HQI

Hello All, Lately I've just been lurking it seems. With an odd work schedule and doing commuting to Davis a couple times a week, forum (and for that matter club) participation has unfortunately been lacking. That said, I have a little time tonight and wanted to introduce my little tank to...

Good god I'm confused, please help me with a lens

Yep, Canon really does make good lenses, and you will pay more for them than other brands. It just depends on what your willing to spend and what it's worth to you to have just a bit better quality (in some cases more, in some cases less notable). That said, other companies make good lenses as...

Good god I'm confused, please help me with a lens

Fishnfst is right. Don't know what I was thinking with regards to USM :p With macro you will be mostly manual focusing. I should say that I do have the Kenko extension tubes and love them.

Good god I'm confused, please help me with a lens

Hi Jay, Since you got yourself a Canon and are trying to learn a thing or two about it I highly recommend http://photography-on-the.net/forum/. This is a forum that is dedicated to Canon users and has just about every possible FAQ on lenses and cameras. I looked at the lens you found on...

So what things should you have handy in case of castrophy?

Last year the power went out in Woodland, my old place of residence, for 27 hours. I made due with a 750W inverter and a couple deep cycle Marine Batteries. I was able to run pumps for a 135g, and a 28g for the duration with no problem and even ran the heater for a while until I started worrying...

    How many do YOU have

Currently only JBJ 28g mixed reef (while renting) that I've had for just over 2 years now. Before I moved I also had: 135g FW, 29g Softie tank, 20L and a couple 10g for QT. Sold the 135 rather than move it (no place to store), but that is part of a master plan to upgrade to a 200+g SPS tank...

    EBMUD mandatory water rationing requirements

Just curious, is your TDS high? I have been using a DI Resin-only system going through two canisters and it has lasted me longer than I thought. This is in part due to two things though, my TDS varies from around 25 to 35ppm which is quite low. Secondly my tank is small at 28g. That said, I...

    Car Battery...Is my thinking correct?

Mike Wow! :o That's crazy! $80 for the filter and 1.5 hours of labor! It's for that reason that I didn't want to go to the dealership! I'll definitely keep my eyes tuned to Prius chat when I have any other Prius issues! Thanks for the headsup! Thanks Again!!

    Car Battery...Is my thinking correct?

Wow, Mike, Thanks for all of that!!! It looks like the 2001 Battery is actually cheaper than the new starter batteries, and it's beginning to look as though going to the Toyota dealership is the easiest thing to do at this point. It also turns out that there is a hook-up on the battery connects...

    Car Battery...Is my thinking correct?

Hi All, I need to replace a small starter battery for a 2001 Prius. I don't want to pay $300 from the Toyota dealership for a battery. My thinking is that any 12V battery that is of similar size should do the trick. The workers behind the counter at Kragen insisted that my battery is different...
