Trying to get good color from Steve Elias Blue Stag

Hmm... Odd things happening with this thread. I posted a picture, but now it's gone. I got an email saying that LeviT had responded to this thread, but I don't see his comments here. Here's the picture again. Hope it helps. Michael

Trying to get good color from Steve Elias Blue Stag

Hi All, Sorry it took so long to post a pic. Unusual business lately. As you can see there isn't much color. A little blue on the tips but that's about it. Could it be that it's getting too much light? It's been like this nearing two months. Thanks, Michael

Trying to get good color from Steve Elias Blue Stag

Hi All, At the MARS frag swap in April I got a small 1" frag of Steve Elias Blue Stag Coral. It has doubled in length and is now branching, but the color just isn't there. It didn't help that I moved, but I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions on how to bring the color back on this coral...

    Fishnfst's downgrade :)

Fishnfst, I think that you will like going with smaller pieces of LR in the tank. I have a 28g Nano, and if I had to do it over again I wouldn't have put so much LR in. For starters it makes cleaning the sides of the tank difficult, and secondly it just has a slightly over-crowded look to it...

Another reason I don't want to move

Just moved to the East Bay from Woodland. Yesterday I moved my tank, and though small, it took a lot longer than I had anticipated doing it all by myself and didn't finish until 3 in the morning. I'm feeling beat today! So Dyngoe, you have my sincerest sympathies, it really is no fun!

Interesting Mr. Ugly! Now I'm curious what they taste like! Though the the thought of populations of them being wiped out due to its being a desirable food source would prevent me from trying them. ... Thanks again for the welcomes everyone!

Mmmm... Sea Cucumbers!! ... Actually, aren't Sea Cucumbers a delicacy in Japan? I remember a very long time a go when I was in Baja on the Sea of Cortez, that a local told me that the Sea Cucumber population was getting wiped out because they were being caught and sold abroad... Sorry for the...

    New Member Area/Introduce yourself thread

Tuberider, It's been so long I'm not sure what part of town it was. I went to Everett Elementary, then Roosevelt Jr. High then on to Davis. Later my family moved more towards what I guess is South Modesto, and my sisters went to Modesto High School.

Hi Brian, Welcome! I'm a new member as well (see previous page of thread)! Hope to catch you at one of the meetings! Whoa, I'm a Modesto transplant as well! Spent most of my days growing up in Modesto. Went to Grace M Davis High School there, a couple years at Modesto Jr. College before...

TDS Readings in the Bay Area ?

Well, that's what I'm considering, is going only DI if the TDS is low enough. I'll have to do a cost analysis to see what the difference would be for paying a water bill with or w/o RO vs. the extra cost of DI used to do it without RO. I've never been on metered water, so this is going to be a...

TDS Readings in the Bay Area ?

Thank you everyone for the input. This at least gives me some hope that it's possible to have a fairly low TDS.

TDS Readings in the Bay Area ?

Thanks Mr. Ugly and Paradox! Do you know if the water source for Alameda is the same for the rest of the East Bay? Just curious.

TDS Readings in the Bay Area ?

Thanks guys! I figured that there would be some variation, which is why I was curious what people were getting from various areas. Iani, I hope you're right, that would be great! Mike, you are correct, Woodland is off of well water and yes, nitrates (not a TDS) are always high (40ppm+) which...

TDS Readings in the Bay Area ?

Hello Everyone, Well, I'm moving to Albany this weekend, and started thinking about how I'm going to be setting up my tank, RODI unit, etc. So it got me to wondering what TDS readings people are getting around the Bay Area. I'm currently in Woodland, near Davis, and the average TDS reading for...

Hi All, Thanks for the warm welcome's! Wish I could make it to this months meeting as it sounds very interesting! Unfortunately, that's the day I'll be making the big move. I know that Frag Swaps are pretty crazy as I sold tickets during the October MARS Frag swap, and help set up the tables...
