Welcome back!
What are you checking?
For alk/ca/mg I use the Neptune trident
If not auto testing -then hanna works for alk, as well as sailfert. For CA I find Hanna too complicate and use sailfert.
For P and N I use Hanna
If there is a lot of leftovers after a minute for reef nutrition and 2 min for pellets -
-the ROE is gone in thirty seconds-like watching fish play pac-man on crack
Hi - and welcome -
For myself I use the avast plank & use a combo of pellets -tdo, Pisces mysis pellets, and nyos algae -one of them is a phosphate bomb for sure! I feed that once a day.
I also DIY’ed -making a mini fridge into dosing refrigerated liquids - so I dose reef nutrition’s artic...
Thanks-by what you posted -I am dosing about 22x more than that!
So how much are you dosing now?
And what was PO4 starting point & current?
Maybe I will reboot lanth but I want to see it basically gone from the system before I do so.
@Thales -what would be your recommended starting dose? I had started 40:1 -perhaps it needs to be even more diluted?
Ironically when I think about it I had actual split the doses over a 24 hr period -the amt in the ICP was around two. But at some point I also really changed the feeding...
Either way -I am not going to spend time debugging it as there really isn’t a viable way of testing for it except with a lot of ICP tests.
All my fish are fine and corals are ok except the acros for now..
Back to other po4 reduction methods
ICP showed up with some heavy metals too so I am sure that plays a role too. Hard to discern when there is more than variable at play. The heavy metals come from overdose on trace elements so that is easy to discern and remediate.
The fun never stops!
I have some no longer chemicals -before I dumped them so if anyone wanted them.
Pick up Oakland or I can get them to swap with name on it somehow
1) TropicMarin balling B -2.2 lbs
2) carbo calcium -800 mg - opened but barely used.
3) two reagent A bottles -not sure how I ended up with...
I had liked lanth in only that you couid lock in the dose and keep whatever PO4 level you wanted-with GFO -it seemed effective and then maybe too low.. and a couple times nearly stripped them out…
With carbon dosing -could also keep PO4 stable -just not low enough..but based on Charles molar...
