filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

yeah, u and Mr Ugly have mentioned that 3-5 times is good enough. My goal is to do minimal water splashing in refug without using filter socks, so trying to get close to 3 times. :-) The info you and others provide in this thread has been very helpful to me. Mag 3 and ehiem are my top two...

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

Thanks a lot for the info, didn't know about back pressure. I still would like to get GPH down to around 180-200, but I would definitely take a look at eheim. Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

I just have one final question regarding this subject, if you all don't mind. Will Maxi-jet 1200 be enough as my sump return pump? It is rate 300GPH at 0ft, but can't find the GPH rate at 4ft. Is MJ pump too small/weak for return pump? The reason I ask is because I want to avoid RIO pump, and...

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

Thanks, Mr Ugly. I will buy the lower GPH pump. So I should get rid of the sock as well so that plankton will not be collected in the sock correct? or turning off 5-10 mins off return pump during feeding time will be enough for plankton to be consumed by the corals? (so that I can keep using...

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

Thanks for your suggestion, Steve. Actually my current sock has holes cut off at the bottom. I did it because, the sock usually overflow after a week of usage, so I first started cutting small holes in the sock, and later just cut the bottom off. But my concern is that when I feed plankton, they...

anyone? Should I half the pump rate? Will 300 GPH at 0ft be too less?

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

Like I mentioned above, I have 60 gallon DT (my tank+stand height is 50") with 12 gallon 24x10x12 refugium (3 compartments with dividers). what GPH (at 0 ft) rate do you guys recommend I get? I don't know what is the turnover rate should be in the sump. Thanks for all your help, guys. Ken.

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

Hi, I tried making what you described, but air bubbles are still coming up to the surface strong enough that it is still splashing tiny drops of water around. how small/big should the holes be? The drill I was using was 1/4. I have a lot of smaller size drill, but don't know what size is...

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

the refugium is 24" long and 12" tall. I see what you are saying about how bubble in ur refugium are eliminated, but unfortunately, I can't fit it any refugium longer than 24 inches in my stand due to the design of the stand. Thanks for your input though.

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

I have Rio 1700 (rated 642 GPH at 0 ft) for return pump. Is that too much flow for 60 gallon DT with 12 gallon refugium? Thanks.

filter sock and plankton feeding. please help!

I have a couple of questions that I have a hard time finding answers. I would really appreciate it if you guys can share your knowledge. - For those of you who use filter socks, how do you deal with issue that filter sock removing Phytoplankton and zooplankton that you feed to your corals? Is...
