    tj's shallow reef tank project

Just have to drive home the worry about that table as a stand. Sure, we tend to over engineer our fish tank stands but it is for good reason, especially in earthquake country. Love the tank dimensions, looks like an awesome project!

    Mangrove starts

Would sinking a perforated jar full of some type pf substrate work? If so, i'd love a couple JAR.

    Mangrove starts

How much room do they need to grow? They export a sh*t ton of nutrients, correct? Would they survive in a sump under the tank with a CFL light?

What eats this type of algae?

So I picked up two of those lettuce sea slugs. They have been going to town on the algae for what, 2-3 weeks now? They are doing a pretty good job. Some of the larger patches they avoid, but any frag plugs or rock is now almost totally clean. They are actually quite cool little creatures with...

    Aussie Shipment Coming In Tonight!

I was fortunate enough to be in the area last night when Robert was putting away some corals. Saw some REALLY nice blasto's, tabling acro, some other incredible SPS, nice elegance coral. If only my GF wasn't with me.... Also, Robert, who was that guy with the crazy led light? I want two!

Run an airline outside now that it's cold to keep PH up?

So now that it's getting cold outside I can't keep the window right next to the tank wide open like I normally do. I've noticed my PH dropping A LOT. Before it would never drop below 8.01 at night and now it's going down to a new record last night, 7.66 Would running the air intake line on...

    "Decent" epoxy putty testimonial

Is it safe to say the more heat generated by mixing the 2 parts the quicker the cure? I say that because with the D&D epoxy, it barely warms up and that stuff cures super slow. With the 2 little fishies it gets noticeably warmer, almost hot and it cures in minutes.

Wireless access point for a controller

I'm a HUGE fan of D-Link after giving up on Linksys a few years back. Been running DGL-4300 for a few years without a single problem.

    "Decent" epoxy putty testimonial

I do what Erick does, glue on both sides of the epoxy. It depends on what I am doing. If I am mounting a bunch of frags the 2 little fishies hardens way to fast for my liking. I use the DD as well, and the clouding thing is really concerning. If I switch the pair of gloves I was using to...

    pH probes, HUGE discrepency

Not sure if it is necessary but I float my PH calibration packets in my tank water about 30 mins prior to calibrating. I also calibrate both probes at the same time in the same packet (RK2 and RKlite), rinsing in DI as Tony mentioned.

    Good Mechanic?

The smell of tranny fluid has got to be one of the worst things I have ever smelled. My brother and I flushed the tranny on his old Chevy POS and that was the only smell in my life to make me gag.
