I get carbon at BRS as well - I've been using the Rox carbon, does anyone have any opinion about the other carbons they sell?

So much for waiting a week! :D Looks like a nice bulb combo. How about a double exposure image to show off how the Sfiligoi looks?

    Maximum 2-Part Dosing

I got all my info from RC - a search for bromide and dow should turn up enough threads to read for a few days :D The jist of most the threads I looked thru (mostly the ones where Randy Holmes-Farley posted) - dowflake and all the repackaged stuff should be fine for occasional boosts in calcium...

    Maximum 2-Part Dosing

Just FYI for those who dose DIY two part - the calcium chloride produced by DOW chemicals (since 2007 IIRC) may have really high levels of bromine that could accumulate and cause issues over time, esp if you use ozone. Most of the stuff that's readily available like DOW flakes, peladow, or...

How to Hotrod your Alk Test

Norm, nice write up, and a great technique - elimates the variation in volume of each drop. It seems like the alk tests can have a large amout of discrepancy between different makes, this would be a nice way to calibrate each batch/kit. Since I wasn't able to make it to the swap - is there a...

Help me get rid of bryopsis. It's out of control!!!

x2 on what Norm said about raising the Mg - take it above 1500 and you should see the bryopsis go away. Safer IME than trying to manage/control an alk swing.

    ATL Raspberry Lemonade Nasuta

Tony - I guess I'd consider low nutrient levels nitrate < 1 and phosphate undetectable on a normal test kit or < 0.1 on a Hanna phosphate colorimeter. I don't really have a requirement for the nutrient levels for the DBTC, I just need to know you can successfully keep SPS, the...

    ATL Raspberry Lemonade Nasuta

I have two frags of this coral, it's a pretty fast growing coral, but doesn't keep its color well in higher nutrient tanks. I've been keeping it under high light conditions 400w HQI radiums. This picture is of another frag, the two I have for the DBTCX should be similar in size...

    Does anyone test for Potassium?

I used the KZ test for a while before I passed it along. I found it to be quite difficult to use, at best. While I don't really follow K levels, I do send my water into aquarium water testing every few months, and use their results to track my K levels and double check my home test kits. Like...
