    DBTC Extreme - Pink Lemonade

You guys are too much :D. We're on page 3 and we haven't even distributed the first generation yet! If we were on RC, I would have been surprised tbone hadn't shown up yet. So here are the results - my number for this DBTC was 23, so by my reckoning that makes the winners...

DBTC Extreme - GARF purple bonsai

Hey everyone, Like the pink lemonade, my GARF purple bonsai was also purchased from Ming at Atlantis. I have two tiny frags to put into DBTC Extreme. I've had it under both 250 and 400 watt HQI's and it does well under either. Only the corallites are purple on my colony, rather than the...

    PAR Readings

Did you get it dual calibration, or either the sunlight or electric one. I ended up getting the sunlight one after reading the advanced aquarist article myself.

    DBTC Extreme - Pink Lemonade

Hey everyone, I purchased my original frag from Ming at Atlantis, and have two frags I'd like to throw into DBTC Extreme. I've kept the PL under 250 Phoenix's and have it currently under 400 watt HQI Radiums. It will encrust as much as it can before it'll grow upwards, so...

    PAR Readings

hey hiepatitis - which PAR meter did you buy? - I just bought (but haven't received) an Apogee quatum meter, but didn't see this thread when I was looking to buy one. Interested in getting your thoughts on whichever one you have!

Problems with Brute Trash cans anyone???

I've used the same two Brute containers for both ASW and RODI water storage for about 4 years now without any issues I've noticed. Maybe mine are old enough now that they no longer leech anything, and that if they did leech something into the water, it would be when you first got them?

    Chalice care

Couldn't agree more. I have a mummy eye frag that was doing very poorly for a while, undergoing periodic recession and necrosis. I tried moving it all around from high light to low light and back again, and double checked all my parameters, etc. I had sort of given up on the piece when I...

    Frag setup in the works

Ian - you have a sweet frag tank setup, love the pics, and I'm proud to see some familiar frags in there! :D

    Chalice care

JME, but I sort of went thru the same thing when I first started picking up chalices, and have started differentiating the watermelon chalices from the rest. The watermelons seem to do just fine under medium to high light 20K light (18-24" under a 400 watt Radium on HQI). IME, the pink/red...

    Shooting through 1 Acrylic

Anyone have any tips on trying to shoot thru 1" thick acrylic? One of the downsides to my tank is that I can't seem to get a decent shot thru the front pane, even when I'm perfectly perpendicular to it, and even with manual focus. The minute I go even a few degrees off axis to the acrylic, the...

    Skimmer water usage

I pull out about a 1 gallon every two days, most days I let the auto top off take care of the make up water, but every few days, I'll add back some ASW to keep the salinity from dropping.

Is Tropic Marin Pro-Reef worth the extra money?

I use a mix of IO and Oceanic with no problems. I also buy in 200g buckets which last me a few months each, so as along as you put the lid back on tightly, storage shouldn't be a problem. If I could find TM Pro in the Bay Area, I'd like to give it a try, but I've never seen it being sold at an...

    Aquanotes

I have an ACII and Aquanotes 3, as well as a DC4. I like the Aquanotes in that it gives me a better interface with the ACII, but with the embedded web server in the AC3Pro, I would think it would no longer be necessary. About the only other thing I use it for is to graph data (temp, pH, ORP...

Salinity:Which method of measuring do you trust more

I'm surprised there's that much of a difference between the two! IMO, I'd try and borrow a few refractometers, calibrate them with RO/DI and then see how they compare. Do both the salinity probe and refractometer have temp compensations?

    no questions, just a comment

These forums are a great idea, and esp for those (like myself) who don't really get a chance to make the meetings, it's a nice way to keep track of what's going on locally.
