    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Agreed, and good catch. It's my Achilles heel. I have been waiting to get a better price on the XP8 as the power strips should not have any (high powered) heater plugged into them. Unfortunately, there is no other circuit available in my hallway so separating them is not possible. Also, the...

Alternative power back-up solutions (not Ecoflow brand)

Given the incident this morning regarding my Ecoflow Power Backup (refer to tank journal), I am considering switching brands. Has anyone used this one? Limited-time deal: BLUETTI Elite 200 V2 Portable Power Station with Car Charging Cable (Car Port to XT60), 2073.6Wh LFP Battery Backup w/ 4...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Agreed, timing could have not been worse. I am currently not using an Inkbird for water temperature alarms. I have two temp probes which produce an audible alarm if the temperature drops below 76F. However, they need power to operate. So during a power outage, they would be powered through...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Avoided a massive disaster this morning resulting from a faulty Ecoflow DELTA 2 Unit. In summary, on or before 1 am tonight, the back up unit turned off its power ports without reasons, turning off all Hydros devices connected to them. Temperature dropped to 74F, and only two MP40s remained...

Hair algae, what inverts should I get??

100% in camp urchin but I strongly believe that the sea hare should get the credit in your case. Urchins just make sure it is not coming back.

    Black Friday deals

This seems to be a very good deal for someone who needs a strong return pump which is super silent: USD 378 incl tax (!)...

    Willie’s Last Aquarium Build

Impressive though, how you were able to fix all of this and remain resilient overall. Each one of these issues would have made me doubt to remain in the hobby.

Issues with keeping livestock in a temporary holding tank

I am not a subscriber (or fan), but I have watched him in beginning when I started out. I think there are always a lot of learnings from big negative events, curious what you think led to the heavy livestock losses he encountered? The fact that he did not use a skimmer and/or carbon when...

No clue and someone already claimed them, hence the pending status on the thread title.

    What’s Your Favorite Sand?

I would have voted for Carib sea special grade which I have, but that Aquaforest sand looks very nice. I assume nothing weird coming through ICP? Only downside I can see is that if you add live sand for biodiversity which I do on a 6 months basis it might look odd with this clean looking sand.

I am using this one too. Powerful enough for even large tanks. I am running it at the lowest setting 24/7. Definitely a great price. They have the air dryer on sale too, but still too expensive.

Looks like they are from Utah, and the contamination seems rather low. I prefer mysis over brine due to the apparent greater nutritional value, and I have concerns with some of the brine shrimps sourced from overseas. Prices are good.

Do you know where the brine shrimps are from? Are they sourced from within the US?

    [PENDING] PIF - Icecap K1 50 Protein skimmer(s) - Walnut Creek - Supporting members

I am giving these both away together (!) to a supporting member (only). One is missing the power plug. They are both functioning. These are flimsy devices and I have lost patience working with them.

Frozen food choice and have you had any issues?

Same - I rinse various types of LRS food (4 types), plus PE Mysis, with RODI, then soak the rinsed food in selcon, FM Food energizer, and Captiv8 garlic for at least 15 minutes. My vermetid snails love that stuff. I do not believe rinsing LRS food matters at all. I test my nutrients weekly...

Re LRS food: For me, ideally at High Tide but Kenny almost never has it in stock. If I am South, at Neptune. Or at Aquatic Collection. However, the last time I ordered it was online via Premium Aquatics, since for me 40 USD shipping is probably cheaper than driving back and forth to SJ. But...

Very popular in Germany, but telegraham said it would read 20% lower PAR than the apogee, so something to be aware of or compare when you have it.

Ozone reactor from Geo is tempting - it just looks VERY complicated to setup though. But the best deal is the MS test from Oceamo. What I did not know is that the 65 USD include (!) the price for shipping which makes this a very (!) good price for an MS test even without the discount. I have...

    Black Friday deals

Agreed. I believe, though, that the 50% off came also off the discounted amount, but this might be me just being greedy :). Unfortunately, or fortunately, the CoralVue stuff I am looking for, i.e., Hydros devices, is not well discounted, so I might pass (or 'only buy a couple of Octopulse).
