    Pics from my new toy

Thanks guys! BAR is free to use them if they're worthy! Still have a lot to learn to get them to look like some of the great photos I've seen on here! But I can't wait to get the new tank up and running as well! It's been a long time coming! Glad to see FSU's beatdown of Florida drove...

    Pics from my new toy

Just picked up a Rebel T2i DSLR with a EFS 15-85mm lens. Also got a 100mm macro lens from Anthony. Trying to learn how to use everything and boy is it a little overwhelming. I decided to snap some shots with the macro lens tonight as I learn more about this camera. Let me know what you think...

    Any UFC fans out there?

Big fan of UFC. I'm rooting for GSP this Saturday. But I agree that it's time for him to finish someone with authority instead of dominating a fighter for 5 rounds and winning by decision.

    Kona Manta ray dive

Had the opportunity to do that last year when I went to the Big Island. Truly an amazing experience with such beautiful and peaceful animals! Everyone should do it if they ever get the chance.

Any Euro Reef RS250 users out there?

Ok thanks guys. I think I'll stick with a 9-10" baffle and raise the skimmer if necessary. I can ultimately raise the skimmer about 5-6" (skimmer is 30" tall and the room under the stand will be 36" tall) if I need to. John, I'm planning to have it made since I'm trying to get a package...

Any Euro Reef RS250 users out there?

Trying to design a sump and was wondering what water level people submerge their Euro Reef RS250 skimmers. I'm thinking of having the water level be 10" and if I need to, I can raise the skimmer ~5" if I need to. But curious as to what other users do. Thanks!

    DurTBear's 100-120g upgrade

I've spoken to Robert at Neptune about building a stand and canopy. Haven't started on it since I'm still trying to decide on dimensions and maybe an additional cabinet to hold freshwater, dosing bottles, etc.

    DurTBear's 100-120g upgrade

Haha! I'll do my best. The main thing is to sort out the weight issue in my place. Once I'm confident that it's safe, I should be able to get water in it once the stand is built.

    DurTBear's 100-120g upgrade

Nah...I'm lazy so I'm going to just have a stand built for me. The 2x4's were used as a base to set the tank down so that I could reach under the tank and pick it back up without the tank being flush to the ground.

Some more pics: 1/2" think starphire glass. This thing is pretty heavy! External overflow box with 1.5" drains: Adjustable overflow teeth:

It's sitting in my living room with a blanket over it! But no one should see it anyway.

Tank arrived yesterday at my parents place. Man it definitely looks bigger than I thought it would! Taking it out of the crate: For size reference:

Which reflector and how high to mount?

Good question...I'd be interested to know as well. I suppose it depends on the spread of the light. I'm guessing we don't want any dark areas in the middle of the tank. So I guess we could theoretically make them as wide as possible while keeping the middle as bright as possible.

Which reflector and how high to mount?

Thanks for the input...right now, I'm discussing the layout of the canopy and the tentative height for the lumenarcs is 6". Maybe I should raise it up a couple inches...

    Weight concern with new tank

So I'm trying to get some structural/building plans from the building manager. We'll see what they can come up with.

    Weight concern with new tank

Yeah, I totally wasn't worried when I originally talked to a few people and went ahead and placed the order of the tank. It was only until a couple days ago when a construction buddy voiced his concerns. I also thought about the two-story garage on the bottom two floors of my building and how it...

    Weight concern with new tank

Yeah, maybe it's best if I get a pro to come in and properly assess the floors. I just want to make sure it's safe because I don't plan on letting the association know simply because they have an unreasonable tank limit of 20 gallons. I currently already exceed that with my 40 gallon tank.
