    Tapmorf's In Wall Upgrade

We had to transfer all the livestock from the 75G which is upstairs to the downstairs where the new tank is. Thank god for all those deli containers and extra buckets. :D We setup the temp holding tank with a heater, a pump to move water and eggcrate to hold the corals in place. Here are some of...

    Tapmorf's In Wall Upgrade

Here is an update...It has been a while and a lot has happened. After the RODI water was mixed with salt, I started to siphon a lot of my water from my sump and old 75G display into the new tank until it was half full. Started working with a couple of new pieces of live rock. I also wanted a...

    My 40G breeder tank

That is looking good. I like the vivid colors in the nano.

Did I shoot myself in the foot?

I believe sun corals are very low light and some articles I have read about them actually suggest mounting them upside down and under ledges or caves.

Bryan, Yay, the rumors are true. Congrats on the new upgrade. Great dimensions for the tank too. I will be checking in on this one.

Thanks Eileen. I have not recut the new length of my RODI line, was waiting to place the saltmixing vat and cut to length then. It is just long enough to go up and into the opening right now. But that is a great idea. Hey Rudy, thanks. Yeah he was about 3'-0" tall when I last measured him...

    Tapmorf's In Wall Upgrade

After a busy week ... No journal would be complete without the little merman shot :D Some plumbing parts. I am sure I forgot to get something. Relocated the RODI unit and installed the TDS Meter. The moment has arrived, the first few drops of RO water. Picked this up today along with...

    Tapmorf's In Wall Upgrade

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I went with an internal, I figured with all the room back there that I could spare the bump out inside, I don't mind it at all. :) I still have not decided if I am going to the BAYMAC or work on the tank tomorrow. All those raffle prizes are tempting. ::)

Alve's tank today, thanks to BAR!

That looks like an efficient way of moving water in and out of the tank. Good going !

    Tapmorf's In Wall Upgrade

Wow, thanks for all the tips on acrylic. I will most likely take your advice and fill the tank up for a bit to leak test and can probably keep it filled for about a week to start the hardening of the acrylic and test plumbing leaks. I will definitely check out those mighty magnets as well. I...

Yeah gotta be extra careful with the sand and everything else too when it comes to acrylic. The corners needed the 45 angles. I am fine with that as long as there is no large center brace :)

    Tapmorf's In Wall Upgrade

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Just to update the build here. This is a teaser pic from Gen today. He still needs to cut the opening for the overflow, trim, polish and drill the overflow drains. For some reason, the tank looks really small from the picture. :)

    Tapmorf's In Wall Upgrade

As I am approaching the delivery of my new tank, I am still debating the "Age Old Topic". To Sand Bed or Not to Sand Bed. I have never run a bare bottom system before. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to either method ? I do prefer the look of the sand bed, but also like the pristine...

Oh, I wish :) Ian's fixture is really nice. I recently bought Ian's old 6x54w Tek light. I will just stick with what I got and maybe upgrade or add a pendant MH if I think the lighting is not enough. I won't know til everything comes together.
