    Kurplunks old and new tank

Well here is a look at the 8bulb tek fixture that I'm going to use. I layed it on top to get an idea of how much it will actually cover. Also the under cabinet full of used equipment i plan to use. The sump was courtesy of Ed (Dr. Dolittle), thank Ed. Which is going to work out awesome. It has a...

    My Semi-annual upgrade

Yeah my tank is more like a dinosaur fossil museum. I can take you thru the vast colonies that once graced the tank. Rainbow monti skeleton, ice fire echinata skeleton, and the Watermelon 2 skeleton. Just to name a few.

    My Semi-annual upgrade

The tank was pretty incredible. A large red tabling Hyacanthus(a good 12" in diameter), large purple monster colony, rare colonies just littering the tank. I guess something like your tank. I believe he said it started out as a zeovit tank.

    Kurplunks old and new tank

I just don't like the way the doors look when they are closed. They leave huge gaps all the way around. I just would like something way cleaner. Im going to play with the hinges and see what i can do about the gaps. I was planning on running a refugium. When the lights are on under the cabinet...

    Kurplunks old and new tank

Yeah but it is hard to keep corals and rock suspended in the middle. I'm going to try something like ians, but the doors are a bit different. I appreciate the offer on the hinges phong, but my problem is the doors themselves.

    My Semi-annual upgrade

I'm really going to try. The thing is sitting in the middle of my house. I figure it would look better with water. I was really stuck on what to do with the stand. I kinda like what you did with your doors. I might have to rip some of your ideas off.

just got back from camping, show me your swap booty!

I was talking more along the lines of room for multiple people to look. If someone decided to park themselves in the middle of rack, you had to go around to one of the sides or have their booty in your face. Like I said i'm sure there was a good reason.

just got back from camping, show me your swap booty!

I had a good time at the swap. I didn't really bring anything home, cause i was just helping out a friend stock his new nano tank. I was pretty excited to get my new bar shirts though. I know there was a really good reason that racks were used to display the corals. I was just hoping that those...

Getting obsessed with saving the planet.

There is a pump you can buy specifically for this application. You can purchase it at any major plumbing store or maybe even Lowes or Home Depot. You set the timer for let's say 5am till 9am when you take a shower in the morning. Then again for 5pm till 8pm for any needs after work in such. It's...

Getting obsessed with saving the planet.

Instead of letting your water run to get hot water, you should consider putting a recirculating pump on your water heater. It would not only save you the water, but save some gas also. They even have timers on the pump so the pump doesn't run all night or day when instant hot water is not needed

    Question for you vortec users

I know there is supposed to be no heat transfer between the motor and impeller. I have seen pictures of the vortech causing checking or hazing in acrylic tanks. Is this true? And what is the reason for this?
