everyone is right about them though. I have had 3 and all have been perfectly fine for a month or two, then poof, they die off. They are the same at the pet store i work at. We just stopped carrying them.
Well this is going to sound bad, but u need to keep the in-sump skimmer at a certain water depth? Is it dependant on the skimmer, or is there a standard height? What should I keep mine at? I'm buying the 200.
I ordered one of the MSX skimmers. Should be here next week sometime. Thank you all for the input. I'm really hoping this helps with my water. My old ER doesn't even pull out a full collection cup anymore. I'm really hoping this clears up my water issues, or atleast helps.
I'm going to be honest. I don't know about any of the brands u all are talking about. I know about euroreef, berlin, bubble king, and deltec. That's about it. I don't mind spending 600-800 bit less is always better.
BM250 is that the bubble master? If so do you happen to have a link for that? I have done a little and i do meran a little reasearch into them and every where i have looked that are like 1k+
yea i learned that the hard way. I was told they were ok and i have a very nice large red on red coco worm and the night i put it in he decided he didnt like it and cut it down. He also went and killed 4 other larger colored feather dusters as well.
Well i have been battleing my water parameters for some time now. I think that it is new time for a skimmer. I have been using a old model Euro reef skimmer. I think that it is rated for roughly 80 gallons. I have now 140 gallong total volume tank that i know is overstocked on fish. It is a...
ah, thats a good point. What i have always done is just take 5gal of weater once a week and add it to the tank. I check the salinity before and after and sometimes need to adjust, but other than that no. I havent done any extra testing to the water.
Wow thank you all for the replies. Im very happy this board is here. Its nice to be able to ask questions and not be cut apart by people.
Ok so some responses.
I had a RBTA die about 3 days ago. During that the ammonia went up a little. The ammonia since then has gone back down to 0. I...
I think the nitrites are from the new anemone. As soon as it was introduced to the tank it turned up a lot of the sand bed in the tank. I got the kh from the api dropper test kit. It was between 7 snd 8 drops. Those were the numbers according to the book. My ro/di unit is about 3weeks old. I...
I know that all the rock came from other established reef tanks and I put the sand in new when I set up the tank. The only way copper would be there is if the tank had copper in it previously and it had been absorbed in the acrylic.
Ok got home and tested
Nitrates-20ppm
Nitrites-.25ppm
Phosphates-1.0ppm
Annonia-0ppm
Calcium-500ppm
Kh-125.3-143.2
Salinity-1.026
Temp. 80.5f
Ph 8.2
I think I need another water change.
i havent gotten off work yet. Im going to get a copper test kit. I do know that the last timei tested my kH it was ont he low side but in the right area that i wanted it. Ill be home in a hour and have it posted witht he results.
i didnt get him back in. I found him inthe morning dry. I never understood how he cleared the lfight fixture 3in off the top of the tank and managed to get to the floor.
