    Refugium ,Is 250mh too much?

I started with a 150w then switched over the one similar to melev's to save money. I subsequently switched back to my 150w because I saw more reddish-slimy algea growing under the melev lights. Then I started to see these slimy algae in the DT and the Frag tank. So I switch back to MH...

A question for the nem experts out there

Place the ice cube in a glass, stir in vodka and vermouth; then swirl the glass near the nem. To really entice a stubborn nem, serve it in your speedos (Europeon style) and crank up Barry White.

A question for the nem experts out there

i had success in removing the rock/nem from the water and immediately turning the rock upside down over a bucket. The nem was about 14" and it has not retracted when I pulled him out. Dunno if small ones would be different. PS - my nem is RBTA.

Plumbing question - potential problems reducing pipes

How detrimental would it be to run a return at 1" from the pump, reduced to 1/2" (at the bulkhead) and then converted to 3/4" for the Sea-Swirl? I'm looking at around 600 gpm. I'm thinking of using one of the holes in the AGA overflow as the return. Currently, I have a 1" return line that...

    RTNing

I'm currently battling RTN for about a month now. I've been reading up on it and I've read it could be some kind of bacteria. I increased the feeding of my tank starting late January because my clowns were spawning. I'm thinking that may have stressed the corals and made them susceptible...

    Happy tax day

Well, I for one can use more tax. Post-its don't stick as well and I have to buy the pricier magnets if I want the papers to stick.

    Stabilizing reef plugs

I have some frags mounted on plugs similar to the picture below. It wobbles and tips and touches other frags in my eggcrate. Is there a trick on keeping these plugs steady? I would prefer not to cement them down.

    Tile for spawning clowns

I bought one of these from Reed Mariculture. The Rotifer Diet looks just like phytofeast. Phytofeast cost about $15. Rotifeast cost about $20. The rotifer kit cost $30 + $10 shipping and you get more rotis. Here's a how-to link (one of many)...
