ya... i tried that route years ago... sometimes they will learn to eat other foods... sometimes they won't. It they won't and you don't have the pod popultion... they can die. I'd rather find one that's already trained or have a tank where it's a non-issue (large pod pop). MHO...

Well that can be it's on thread.... :bigsmile: A refugium with no predators in it that is tied into your tank is a great way to go. You can get some pods through RN or get some folks to give you some chaeto out of their fuges that already have pods in them... That's just the start though...

I would add that it's important that they have a place to hide to feel safe.... and keep a close eye out for ich... it's inevitable IME if your keeping a blue. Just make sure you are feeding it well... vitamin enriched mysis w/ garlic and regular supply of nori is a good way to go IME.

If you can get one that is trained to eat pellets or mysis that is prefered... if not... make sure your tank is mature with a large pod population or you will likely loose it.

yep... until it gets comfortable it will do a lot of hiding... blue hippos are funny fish.... they can be both extremly personable and extremly shy... my favorite behavior that they do occassionally is play dead. :bigsmile:

i use my sock with the pad mostly because the sock alone has resulted in some minor scratching if sand gets in the sock at all. If running the pad with the sock it isn't a problem even if you have sand all in it. If your BB though then that's not an issue for you and sock only probably would...

cool... ya the green has really come out strong on mine... it was nearly solid white when i brought it home for about two weeks. Now though the color is great... nearly solid green with strong purple tips and ridges and what looks like light violet polyps... it has almost completely encrusted...

By the way... the granulosa piece I got from you is doing very well... the color is really bangin right now and i'm getting some growth on the existing limbs... no new limbs yet but I'm sure I'll start seeing something soon. How fast does that guy grow in your experience? Your tank is looking...

The exact same thing happens anytime I try to get on from my home computer for some reason. My work computer, laptop and blackberry is no problem but the home computer I have to log in twice like Aldie refers to. Has been that way since you first changed over the homepage.
