November update: Re-arranged some coral. Added a cool nepthea from the swap. Trying to keep my hands out of the tank. Time to enjoy it and let it grow!

Oh, you're saying the pic I linked doesn't look like montipora spongodes? This was taken from the Biota Group. I trust them and it looks similar to what I've seen before, but I guess it's possible they incorrectly classified it.

I see "2-3 Color Jawbreaker Mushroom" in the ultra list and "Jawbreaker Mushroom" in the bonus list. As far as I know, most Jawbreaker disco have at least 2 colors. Take the example below (2 colors), would this be considered ultra or bonus?

You definitely wanna bring Alk up to at least 7dKH. I would fix that with soda ash (or similar product) manually. Just go slowly to not shock anything. I've raised mine by 0.5dKH/day without any problems.

Like others have said, most reef tanks struggle for the first year (especially if you start from dry rock/sand). If you don't give up, it will be extremely rewarding. If you end up deciding to re-home your fish, there are plenty of experienced reefers here who can give your fish a good home.

Not exactly a clean break, but I was able to remove the stem with pliers and a bit of force. I have other stuff I can bring to the swap that's mounted to hex plugs without stems. I'll bring those instead to not annoy you folks :p

I remember seeing a thread a while ago regarding certain annoying frag plugs (maybe the stems didn't break off?). Will people be annoyed if I bring these to the swap? I got them off Amazon. Maybe I'll try breaking a stem off if that's the issue to check...
