These work well but just a friendly reminder that it adds another maintenance thing to check on regularly to make sure they stay clear and not clogged with detritus/algae/etc. Buy 2 sets so you can swap in clean ones easily then get around to cleaning the dirty ones at your convenience.

Nutrients definitely are not the contributing factor to the fish dying. My nitrates have been 170+ppm and phos have been over 2.5ppm (no I did not mess up the decimal place) and all fish were fine.
