    Hyposalinity

But I do not think they clean the shells, so I might actually buy them from Paul / @PjFish going forward :). That sounds like some quarantining I would pay for (vs. just keeping the inverts in elevated temp water that inverted reef does).

Sorry, I am lost :). One more attempt to clarify: You wrote this: I responded that I took my (one and only) Aquabiomics test 30 days after my tank was established, and had already a pretty good result, i.e., 90/91 percentile. This made me believe that a strong biome can be established...

Not sure if I follow. When this sample was taken, the tank was brand new, and only setup 30 days before, back at the end of 2023. Sorry, I might have misunderstood you, but just wanted to clarify.

Now that feedback from Eli seems contradicting from what I have seen, and I did not add a ton of things as you did, only from a couple of so places, TBS, then the place in Hawaii, I think. The tank was 30 days old at the time of taking the sample. Post in thread 'Alex’s IM 150 EXT'...

Alternative power back-up solutions (not Ecoflow brand)

I am not an electrician, but the point was only to state that the three of them seem more or less comparable. It looks like the key benefit with the Ecoflow is its expandability.

All of the power back ups seem to be at their lowest price point - Ecoflow/Jackery/Bluetti not trying to duplicate my other post but since it is a very important but no fun reef equipment item, I thought it deserves to be mentioned here. Post in thread 'Alternative power back-up solutions (not...

Alternative power back-up solutions (not Ecoflow brand)

I decided to buy this one now. I will use the Ecoflow when it comes back, hopefully fixed, for the frag tank, but will not rely on it for my main tank anymore. https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0DCJV9LTB?context=search

That reminds me of my Yelp review for Violet Aquariums in San Jose, when they sold me this mummy eye chalice… https://yelp.to/8ovbVHBiA3

For those interested in buying G2 Red Sea tanks

I still have the Red Sea frag tank / 28 gallon. I have been looking at the 50-gallon EXT from Innovative Marine, but it looks like their smaller models do not have Eurobrace.

For those interested in buying G2 Red Sea tanks

The G2 also failing is a given, in my opinion, from what I have been hearing in the German speaking forums. Curious though when we start hearing about the new G3s having the same issue. Gieseman also sells aquariums (Germany only) and they recently advertised that none of their tanks ever...

    Cilyjr's 470 gallon display

Kenny/High Tide/ @under_water_ninja can ship them to you. 100% in camp (professional) QT and most of my fish are from him. Given your setup, I would not take any chances.

What we all can agree though, is that pricing these corals by polyp seems to not a good deal, haha :).

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

I am getting ready to pick up a mated pair of Synchiropus picturatus / spotted mandarins from Kenny this Sunday. This was planned for two months, but it is not easy to get them through quarantine. I did and do not want to add any more fish to the tank, but I could not find a better way to...

Issues with keeping livestock in a temporary holding tank

From Chris’ journal, it looks to me that the holding bin practice in general is a very risky endeavor. I wonder if the holding bin itself needs to be cycled first if used for more than a few days. Also, using a skimmer, UV, and carbon all together might help keeping short term issues at bay...

    Bulk quantity Pellets ?

I have only a six-line wrasse in my frag tank, and she gets the smallest TDO pellets as her food (through an autofeeder). Always hungry, but at one point, she stopped eating the pellets. I replaced them, and she continued eating them as before. Now I also only keep very small amounts in the...

    Cilyjr's 470 gallon display

Fascinating to see the amount of effort that you had to put into all of this, and how well planned everything was. Also, very impressed by your DIY skills. Curious to read in your next update what happened to the fish when transferring them over. It seems like keeping animals in a temporary...

Thanks for sharing. A really great deal is the blotched anthias. Yet, I would always pay more for fish and buy them from Kenny. And, well, the more questionable offer is the pricing for the holy grail :).

Alternative power back-up solutions (not Ecoflow brand)

Looks like the EcoFlow is the slowest switcher of the three, but this is also not the newest model. All of them can do the UPS/pass through mode.
