Innovative Marine Fusion 20 Long in Brentwood

Yeah definitely switch to the LiFePO4 chemistry that I used, way safer and will last a decade. It's also way lighter too.

    Dealing with lyngbya

I've been anywhere from 0ppm nitrate with 0.4ppm phosphate 4 months ago to 15 ppm nitrate and 0.09 phosphate currently, zero effect on the lyngbya. Dipping isn't an option since my rock structures are huge, plus these things grow on walls, sand, sump, etc. So I need something systemic. All...

    A Macro Cube

Everything in there probably is sucking up all the fish waste for now (rocks included). Once they saturate you should see numbers go up. In the meantime you could cut back water changes, save some time. Just don't want to end up with a dinoflagellaten mess.

Innovative Marine Fusion 20 Long in Brentwood

I actually fit a 20ah one in mine, you can go bigger! https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/thomas-29g-truvu.31938/post-486315 @MichaelB it's really easy to do the swap, that link shows how I did it. Find someone giving away their "dead" Vortech battery. You'll need the connector cable and...

    Dealing with lyngbya

Did a search here and online but not everyone agrees on a clear treatment. For those unfamiliar, Lyngbya sp. is a cyanobacterium that looks like hair algae. In fact I always thought it was hair algae that nothing liked to eat until I ran across it in an old post somewhere. It doesn't have a...

    210 gallon Dream tank

I've found that the new Avid Aqua holders are pretty urchin resistant. @Invictus and I were thinking of doing a group buy for the club (on the next BOD meeting agenda).

What do you think happened? Flow off too long or epoxy chemicals if you used a ton?

    High calcium

You find what your Mg consumption rate is then calculate how much your evaporation rate is, then dissolve the Mg in there at the concentration you need. To make your own powder stock (Randy's recipe), recipe is 3 cups MgSO4 (epsom salts) to 5 cups MgCl (mag flake). It will soak up water from the...

    High calcium

Honestly, I don't think the AFR is serving you well if your big numbers are way off where you want to be AND you're still dosing traces separately (without doing any ICP I'm assuming) and having to manually correct Mg and Alk. You might as well do kalk on a pump plus traces manually and dose Mg...

    210 gallon Dream tank

Tip for the MP40s. Usually you want to place them about a foot under the surface and set them up to antisync if you can. If the two non quiet drive ones are wireless they should be able to talk to each other. The third will work on its own.

    Need berghia nudibranch

Try a peppermint if you're in the East Bay, Kenny at High Tide carries the right species. @robert4025 at Neptune carries the right species too if you're in the South Bay. I've bought shrimp from both multiple times with success.

    What Temperature do run?

76.5-78F to reduce heater on off cycles. Haven't done much lower since I can't maintain those sub 76F temps in the summer. You'll want hotter in QT systems to burn though parasite life cycles faster though or if going through fallow periods.

    Andrew's Red Sea Reefer 250

I got splashed the other night from about 4 feet away with a ton of water cause of my yellow wrasse being an idiot. Glad you have a good net now! They grow really fast too, mine has doubled in size over about 3 months.
